Trust me you do not need to see the Picard films. All of the TNG films are lackluster. First Contact is technically the best but it still suffers from the TNG films habit of attempting to turn Jean-Luc Picard into a John McClane-esque action hero.
That was the only part that kept me interested enough to finish the movie. I was disappointed they didn't stick with it.
