It's a shame that the mean spiritedness gets the continuity, but the potentially interesting plot point to maybe push the characters in a new direction gets nothing.

Without the "Godfather" montage, I would have given this episode an easy D for following what seems like a standard MF checklist for what they think of as "jokes that write themselves":
