It depends what you want.  As the article hints at, there are different styles of post-rock.  Some is heavier and more guitar driven (Slint, June of '44), some is more classically influenced (Rachel's).  Both are generally characterised by a lack of vocals, although long samples of speech are pretty commonly used.
