Typically, I like my opera staging… let's say unobtrusive, if not minimal. So not my cup of tea as far as that goes. But the music is by far the most important part anyway, so: definitely worth watching/listening to.

I wouldn't expect extensive, serious coverage of opera/classical on the AV Club, obviously. But I don't see why they can't dip their toes in occasionally. I doubt the grade-A Culture Police will come storming down their doors, or pelt them with monocles on their way out of the multiplex.

I wouldn't be surprised. I learned a lot on a Glenn Gould related thread a year or two ago; I was a little surprised then. (I don't post much, but I've been posting here forever — well, five years or something, which feels like forever.)
