Rubber Soul, White Album, Abbey Road, and Help > Revolver (not that Revolver doesn't have a lot of great stuff) — personally I think Help is a perfect pop album, right up there with Pet Sounds. But if I had to pick a single album it would be either Rubber Soul or the first half of the White Album.

Tom Waits' Closing Time. And Dolly's Tennessee Mountain Home, probably her best album. Also a lot of really crappy albums, of course.

A Case for 1973
Innervisions. Bill Withers Live at Carnegie Hall. Gram Parsons' GP. I Want to See the Bright Lights Tonight. That's probably four of my top ten albums of all time right there. Plus Let's Get it On, Dark Side of the Moon, Houses of the Holy, The Stooges' Raw Power, and Steeleye Span's Parcel of

Why couldn't the baby turn around in its crib?

Couldn't disagree more, I Hate Pippi (if that is your real name). I reread the Pippi books recently and they're just as awesome as I remembered thinking they were as a kid.

You're still the champ
And everyone knows you are. Hey Iron Mike, let's take the porsche down to the titty bar…

It's junior, everyone is terrible in their own end. How many defensemen make the leap to the NHL at 19? Give him a year or two at the AHL level and then Barry Trotz putting him through his paces, I'll be stunned if he doesn't get it.

Schenn and Ellis were both amazing. I'm not surprised Ellis got drafted by the Preds, he seems like a perfect Nashville player.

@ I want to sign in, but can't

Talent, shmalent. They had plenty of talent in the first period. It was a choke job, pure and simple.

Couldn't get back to this yesterday. Hopefully everyone's moved on and no one will read this, but:

I note with passing amusement that on the internet, somehow, turning a blind eye to antisocial behaviour in the hopes that ignoring it will make it go away is held up as a model of manliness, probity and good sense. In real life we generally call that "cowardice."

"Alternatively, if the AVClub could put a "hide unregistered posts" setting in our accounts, that would work too"

I dunno. I think the 55 recording had more joy. When I want to listen to Goldberg, it's invariably the one I put on.

I'll happily add my voice to "Fuck, too bad it was Pierce." He might have been my second—favourite writer around here lately — after, of course, Fucking Rocks O'Neal.

Sweaters!
You should really wear more sweaters, Emily.

Ah, but Fred Penner's true intent was to destroy Al Simmons, so I guess it's all just karma.

There was the wedding double-episode, Woody and that blonde chippy. There were probably a couple others, but they would have all been big "event" episodes, I think.
