I'm not much
of a sci-fi fan — I enjoy your write-ups more than I probably would the books. But I'm a hell of a Dick & Linda Thompson fan. I always thought the "Shoot Out the Lights" story was oddly pointless — they started singing break-up songs from day one. Their whole damn marriage was spent writing and

It's been a long time, but here's how I remember reacting to the book:

I went through a pretty major obsession with that album when I was eighteen. Any else read that sort of sub-Faulknerian novel Cave wrote? Ass Saw the Angel, I think it was called?

Jose Feliciano's version of "California Dreamin" is crazy good. After the last Popless, I went and downloaded a ton more of his stuff, and it's been a steady diet of Feliciano for me ever since.

The whole album Pontiac pretty much screams "don't marry this guy," now that you mention it. She's No Lady, M-O-N-E-Y, L.A County…
