Willis O’Brien had been a boxer, and you can see it in that sequence.

I think it was Salman Rushdie who claimed that every movie made since THE WIZARD OF OZ has been influenced by it.

I’m pretty sure the spider sequence was never shown to audiences, despite Jackson & co’s superb detective work figuring out where it must have gone.

Yeah, I saw that thunderclap as the Superman version of “Mom lifting a car.”

If the other players are also showing signs of superness thanks to the X-Kryptonite, that’ll be a convenient excuse for Jordan’s performance.

One thing I really liked about the “Birthright” graphic novel is that it posited -three- identities instead of the usual two: heroic Superman, mild-mannered reporter Clark, and the confident, assertive Smallville Clark.

Also the bit about “It’s not a job, it’s a calling.”

Who says that’s off the table?

I thought it was fitting that in an episode where the VOW attacked Superman’s hearing with his soundwave gun, Clark wasn’t listening at home.

That would be Mark Waid’s “Birthright” (2005), a perfectly pitched retelling that incorporates the best elements of previous origin stories with a fresh take on the differences between Clark and Kal -and- Superman.

I feel like any meaningful distinction disappeared after Kevin Kline won Supporting for A FISH CALLED WANDA, even though he was one of the four names billed above the title.

Similarly, the reveal of the witch in PARANORMAN.

The bit that gets me is when we see new, multicolored balls rolling in, representing complex feelings.

    “Now go have an adventure!”

    SUUUUUUUUUPERMAAAAAAAN”

“Of all the souls I have encountered in my travels, his was the most... human.”

    (Saavik loses it)

The twins’ powers will only emerge when in close proximity to Sweeps Week.

Also, can’t they go over the weekend instead of missing school?

It’s clearly Clark’s intent to run a working farm. I’m sure he can turn a profit there.

No mention of the gray birthday cake and decorations? I love me an elaborate sight gag.
