OR, some people aren’t good at mating for life.
That’s another good point!! You’re right, transrace is only a thing for those who can pass.
“You move a lot better than most cripples I’ve seen with your condition. Good on you for toughin’ it out and not gettin’ a wheelchair. You should be proud of how strong you are.”
“You know, I usually like really skinny, pretty Barbie doll types, but I really like you. You are so real and low maintenance. I like how you don’t put so much into your appearance. You’re so real.” After I had spent 2 hours getting ready for this date...
For me it’s partly this, but also partly because she feels like she’s checked off some sorta bingo card of blackness. I feel like she’s always two seconds away from saying, “Well I’ve done more for the black community than you, so in some ways I’m more black! ahahahah!” The way she speaks about raising black children…
So, to me, those are separate issues. She lied, she was in a position of power and representation, and honestly, I would have the same problem with anyone doing that.
Gender is not biological, but is mostly a social construct. Not so for your biological sex. So a person who is transgender wants to be known as a different gender, but nobody thinks you can change the fact of your biological sex, except in a purely surface way with plastic surgery.
Sex determination and inheritance are completely different biological processes. They are ruled by different parts of the genetic code. Every human has the capacity to be a different sex in the womb so therefore, a man can be born in a woman’s body and a woman can be born in a mans. Caitlyn Jenner did not choose to be…
The thing with Dolezal for me is that she once sued a university claiming they discriminated against her for being white and then made up hate mail when she was pretending to be black. I feel less like she genuinely wanted to be black as be part of a victimized group to better appear as a victimized person for…
I'm Native American and very light skinned. My mom is light while my dad is darker. Both my mom and I have gotten comments about not looking Native enough. Someone once said to my mother she could pass as white. She was not happy to say the least. It is a punch in the gut to hear someone say I don't like Native.
I’m trying very hard not to judge her, but my compass is moving consistently to psychopath. All the lies certainly don't help her case.
Because nothing bad ever happened under “never meant to hurt anyone” Amirite?
“So where do you stand with this? Is it fucked up, exploitative, abusive, and appropriating?”
This is the second time you’re making this comment. Clearly you’re not interested in opposing opinions but I’ll make my piece anyway: I would be okay with this woman being in the NAACP and rocking these hairstyles if she was honest about her racial background. But that wasn’t enough for her. She had to take on the…
You know how us black people love to refer to ourselves as “ethnic”
2 things:
I think part of it is that they have just as much, if not more, to answer for in all of this. Josh was a young guy, and yes he does have to answer, but the larger and maybe scarier picture is the lengths they took to preserve him at the expense of their female children.
Yeah... I think American policing is very troubled. This is a big, diverse country with grossly unequal economic conditions. When you think of what it requires to be a police officer, it seems if the powers that be in this country wanted real change they’d really look at that. I am all for more training, education and…
