i don't get the "why doesn't superman go to metropolis to instead of the world engine?" then we would be complaining about superman letting the world engine make tsunamis or etc... I always took it that you had to stop the world engine first or it could destroy the world.

I love the movie i am going to go see it again. i think i disagree with you on a lot and i a really glad this is how the Man of steel story starts so we can see the character change and grow.

Personally I preferred this portrayal of Superman still. He made a lot of stupid decisions, but c'mon, he's a country bumpkin with probably only a high school diploma. Putting on blue underwear and finding out about your origin doesn't suddenly make you the JC of super heroes, descending from the heavens to smite evil…

I have to disagree. Even though there are issues with some questionable scenes, all movies have them at the highest level.
