if you haven’t used it then you’ll think its horrible. I had the same impression. But I, alongside everyone I know prefer this over the list.

It is, but it’s customizable, so if you only have a few apps or organize them it’s not nearly as bad as that example screenshot.  Also, you never have to view this.  You can set the view to app list, which is a nice scrollable list of icons with app names.
