I’m pretty sure the fact that he hadn’t made a public statement about this, in addition to the fact that he’s not on the forefront of the news breaking, is an indication that he’s been working behind the scenes and couldn’t/wouldn’t publicly comment on something that’s ongoing.

Agreed. It makes me feel better in a twisted way when I hear other people relate that their older parents have slowly turned into angry, fearful, irrational people.
