American parents have this idiotic mentality that if you can't watch your kids 24/7 that you might as well give up. Good parenting isn't about watching your kids like a hawk, it's about instilling common sense, responsibility and maturity so that they're less likely to make stupid decisions when left to their own…

Little kids are constantly seeking out danger. Nothing is safe to leave around e.g. LEGOS, scissors, paper clips, staples, pencils, coins, ...I have to constantly scan my floors and tables for these things lest my 1 year old eat them.

Paint and heavy metals are also toxic. Children still ingest it, because children are dumb like that. It will not be banned. This was a result of someone (probably a wealthy, (and thus) influential parent of a child who ate these things) lobbying their representatives to kill this product.
