You mean when it concludes by saying Fata Morgana is a likely explanation, supporting my confusion? Yeah, read it. It’s also the second article concerning this occurrence posted to a Gawker site in the last week. They both came away with the same conclusion: “Fata Morgana!”

The image looks too clean and stable to me, but I’m hardly an expert on Fata Morgana images either.

So I’m really confused. I see Fata Morgana listed as the cause of this and other weird occurrences on the regular, yet isn’t a Fata Morgana located MUCH closer to the horizon? And doesn’t it also mirror what’s below the horizon above it, so as to block what’s just above the horizon from the viewer’s eyes? I see no…
