Put your eye doctor on danger money, Raph. ;)
Well, the math involved in cooling system design is sufficiently complex as to be approaching witchcraft, so the folks who do that full-time (and well) are a small subset of the greater engineering zeitgeist. :)
Most newer manuals (from the advent of the Tremec, nee Borg Warner T4/T5 in the early 1980s) use ATF instead of 75W-90 or (if it’s the diff in my truck) 75W-140 gear oil. This was done to reduce drag for improved fuel economy, with the appropriate changes to bearings and gear face geometry to account for the reduced…
Completely agree. It’s just taken to a bit of an extreme with the (ostensibly civilian) airliners. But then Soviet infrastructure never quite reached every corner of the Union, so it makes sense there, too.
Based on the amount of dust being kicked up on that runway, I’m guessing here that it doesn’t see much use aside from Airshow Time.
I spent over 18 years of my life designing automotive cooling systems.
Yep. The marshals there were doing everything they could to get his attention and keep him from pulling out there or then, but...
Can’t fix stupid.
Well, whatever the legal status of her driving it was, she drove it into water deep enough to have a boat she could see operating in it. Glad the real owner is getting a break. Good on the Miata fanatics.
So.... 1750 hp, 200+ mph, no cage, no harness, no fire suit. Yep. Insanity, alright.
Yes, apparently 2 Mokes, or as the guy in the video says, “a golf cart”.
Sure, accidents happen. But I don’t “toss” my toolbox or tools into my truck. Why *try* to break stuff you paid good money for? Likewise with the landscaping blocks. Someone brings a front end loader full of something heavy and pointy up to my truck, I’m driving away. It’s not a dump truck.
(As much as I won’t bother…
I’m 48 years old and outgrew throwing my own property around 44 years ago.
I’m laughing because this is sort of the high-tech equivalent to some of the silly fuel economy games automakers played in the 70s and 80s. Example: the 1st gen (US) Ford Escort Pony was the fuel-economy special. One of the ways they got the EPA ratings up was to... and I shit you not... install a longer filler neck…
I did watch it, but thank you for playing.
This is some great work, Stef. I’m glad your getting better.
That’s not the same thing by a longshot.
Who the fuck drops a load of landscaping blocks into their truck bed from 5 feet above the bed in the real world? This is how you break all the landscaping blocks you just bought and thus have to go buy them again.
The repairs to Ongais’s legs and arm were done by the duty orthopedic resident at Methodist Hospital, a guy by the name of Dr. Terry Trammel. Needless to say, Dr. Trammel’s work became well-known in the racing world and the list of people he’s put back together is quite long. He joined CART Safety, and is responsible…
