I agree that vanity is the most likely reason we would colonize Mars with actual people.

Humans did not occupy as much of the planet at that time which means the concept of “owning” habitable areas either as individuals or as a collective did not exist either. Climate change in and of itself is not necessarily going to destroy the planet, civilization, etc.

Even if it was economical and technologically feasible to extract resources from Mars, why would we need to put humans there?

This is a valid point regarding technology in general, but these developments are relatively small in scope compared to the idea of Martian or extra-terrestrial colonization in general.

That’s not to say we shouldn’t be trying to reach these goals, because the technological advances that precede them will hopefully be

The reason I like the title of this article is because humans, or humanity, as we know it will not exist as it is currently understood when the colonization of Mars becomes feasible and/or an actual priority.

We will have had to have made major technological, societal, biological, and most likely evolutionary steps

That’s how long it takes to lose interest in 3-boobed mutants?

None of this will be viable until there is a massive paradigm shift in society. Most likely a famine, pandemic and/or war that severely reduces the population and forces humans to re-align into a different social order.

Then it will be a matter of motivation. If survival is the motivation, expect constructs like

Colonizing Antarctica or the the vast deserts on Earth isn’t nearly as sexy as MARS.

If that’s the case, how long will it take to transform the areas of the Earth that are currently (or soon will be) unlivable to habitable locations?

Wait, Mars won’t be GMO-free?

When is it ever bad to take a dig at the Wizards organization?

Just give ball to the ref and get back to the sideline, boy.

The book had pacing problems.  I remember reading the ebook and looking down to see 80% complete and wondering how it could possibly be wrapped up so quickly.

Maybe. My point is that it shouldn’t be a surprise that it’s talking a long time.

If you’ve spent 15 years reading a 5 book series, are you surprised that it’s taking a while to finish?

Good time to quit.

Well it’s all speculative regarding a fictional TV show, but if the plan was to draw the Night King to Bran, was it necessary for all of the people to die to make that happen?

Arya killed the Night King. All Dany’s army did was turn into more wights. Her dragons didn’t do shit.

And she wouldn’t be running Winterfell if it wasn’t for Littlefinger sailing her off to the Vale and then marrying her to Ramsay to physically place her there. Why didn’t she trust that guy after all the good things he did?!?
