Well, your thought is wrong. CUVs built on the same platform are nigh identical in efficiency to their same generation sedan counterparts. Even on the extreme end of discrepancy (~10% worse), it’s still a value proposition for the extra utility (perceived or real) and space for a lot of customers (people with kids).
