Eh spoilers have never bothered me.

Kind of confused how you came to the conclusion this is “Persona 5 set in space.” Persona 5’s turn-based battle mechanics weren’t at all unique to that game or that series.

I never said the reading of that plot I put forward is THE critical reading of it. It is merely one way to read it. That’s the point of critical theory- to look at works through different lenses. Not to necessarily ascertain the leanings of the author- who very likely may not be conscious of the way others will read

Eh, I think this is giving Rowling too much credit as a writer. I think mapping out a clear and consistent sociopolitical viewpoint onto her writing in Harry Potter is very difficult. It’s as hard as mapping out a real working world in her writing. It’s writing that’s high on emotion and whimsy and low in specificity,

This seems to be entirely false. The only instance I can find of a screenshot of the asset files in question shows that they’re all labeled “Townsperson_Sirona”

Or one can easily read that subplot as “well-intentioned liberal tries to be a savior but actually has no idea what she’s talking about and doesn’t actually understand the group she is purporting to save.” In fact, I would think that such an obvious interpretation of that would be pretty popular in these circles.

I’ve also put about 15 hours into the game and agree it’s largely fine. A solid B game with A+ art direction and environmental detail work that papers over a lot of the open world errand running and cliche narrative tropes. A fine and- if observed in a vacuum- totally innocuous game.
It’s also worth noting that the

Is it even a dog whistle? Is that particular historical incident part of antisemitic culture? Is “1612” something a virulent antisemite would see and immediately identify? I genuinely have no idea, and will eat crow if that’s the case.

Whoever thought that Tim & Eric was something Drag Race needed to reference was very misguided. It’s just so wildly out of the show’s character and cultural repertoire.

Leavitt is a piece of shit with vile opinions defending sexual harassers and Gamergate, but I don’t see any indication anywhere he is a Nazi.

It’s really not, unless you are absolutely determined to impose those themes onto it, which it seems you are.

They probably didn’t receive a review code.

“The item’s description references the Fettmilch Uprising, renaming it to the Goblin Rebellion. It wasn’t accidental.”

This item in the game does not resemble a shofar (other than the fact both are horns, which is hardly somehow unique to Judaism) nor does it reference any sort of anti semitic violence.

Ironically, were it not for Rowling, the game’s content would have made it ripe for being smeared as “woke.”

The game is… fine! It’s nothing that will push the form forward but it’s nice to look at and engaging enough to be a diversion for a while.

This has, at this point, just devolved into more tiresome culture war nonsense being waged only by the very online. The TERFs and other anti-trans bigots get to point at the absolutism of those bullying people and demanding nobody play the game; the trans people and their allies activated about this particular issue

I don’t know if this is controversial yet brave, but I thought the worst part of Gen 7 were the fucking Ultra Beasts. While feeling out of place was ostensibly the point of them, they were too successful in that regard - they truly felt dropped in from another series, and the lore supporting them was really out there

The concept of institutional knowledge is deeply undervalued by these corporations. It’s good to have employees who have been there for a while and know not only how things work, but also the history behind processes and decision making.

There are a lot of red flags about DA4, generally, but I don’t think this alpha footage is one. I’m just glad they actually have a working game at this point, and it seems basically in line with how the series was evolving in terms of combat.
