There’s much more to this than simple chroma key. They’re tracking the scene to the movement of the camera, and replacing the chroma key in a photo realistic 3D space, live in real time.

I’m thinking there would be too many factors involved. With a sniper rifle, it’s a lot more predictable as the gun will fire the same way each time. Shooting a basketball, the thrower can’t throw it the exact same way each time. Each one will have different characteristics.
