Mountbatten is the English version of Battenberg which is the last name Prince Phillip hope his kids would use but QEII didn’t want them to lose the Windsor name, hence the hyphen.

And disappoint granny. I think not.

I adore her, unequivocally. I’m glad that she wore a dress that showed her post partum tummy. I wish the press would knock it the fuck off with the whole dragging her through the mud bullshit, it’s evil.

But just to distinguish, Harry is short for Henry, so Prince Harry is not a Harrison. (Though “Harrison” will undoubtedly be shortened to “Harry” by friends.)

Mountbatten is the Duke of Edinburgh’s last name, I believe. There was a whole thing about him wanting the kids to  have his last name, and Liz conceded to Mountbatten-Windsor.

Yes, ma’am

I’m choosing to believe they named him after George Harrison as well.

Archie Harrison. Archie Harry’s son.

We’ve been at peak Archie/Alfie/Freddie for about a decade now.

As the “Earl of Dumbarton,” which IS Scottish, his title is contingent on THAT country, not England. And in Scotland, they don’t use courtesy titles. So unless the Queen coughs up an English earldom for an infant, which is idiotic, he shouldn’t have a courtesy title. And he doesn’t. He’s going to be a royal highness

It’s my 94 year old grandfather’s name, so I’m guessing old man names are going to make a comeback.

JFC. Except that Dumbarton is in Scotland. And in Scotland:

OK there were a lot of articles before the baby was born that warned people not to freak out because Harry and Meghan’s baby probably wouldn’t have a title and yet, here we are. The baby simply doesn’t need a courtesy title. Everyone in the world knows who he is. It’s superfluous, and they know that. The baby will

ME TOOOOOOO!

Just saw that they named the baby Archie!

Wake me up when the child is old enough to wed to the Duchess of the Swabian thus crementing England’s relationship with Habsburgs and surrounding the French Bourbons. Until it can do that for me, the royal baby is a failure.

I thought the same about her hand freckles.

Nothing to do with the bb but Meghan’s chest freckles make me feel better about my chest freckles. That is all.

They just both look so happy and excited. I can’t even wear heels as a non-pregnant or post partum woman (I am childless) so I can’t imagine wearing them right after giving birth. I would have been barefoot.

I love that they took their time to do their Simba moment. I haven't had any kids but can't even fathom trying to look half decent just days after giving birth.
