I disagree. This was an excellent use of public money despite the mistrial. People who want to behave like this need to know that even if the truth doesn’t come to light until they have a foot in the grave, they will be prosecuted and have their name dragged through the mud.

In this particular jurisdiction, the jury had to come to a unanimous decision (ie: all the jurors had to agree). Federal courts and most state courts require unanimity in criminal cases (only a few states allow for majority-based verdicts). About 1/3 of states allow for majority based rather than unanimous decisions…

I really hate people. There is nothing unclear about a man admitting that he drugged women. Any juror who tried to act like they could not arrive at a guilty verdict is a lying asshole.
