Thank you for that. I remembered there was controversy surrounding her actual date of birth, but couldn’t recall the exact details.

It wouldn’t surprise me either. His views are definitely of the Promise Keepers “submit to your husband, become his crown” variety.

She already has been disappeared. No one has seen her in months. Maybe the Chinese will bow to external pressure and allow her to publicly appear again, in some way, but for now, she’s vanished.

Mark Burnett is a sleazy born again Christian reality tv creator from the UK.

So what. When her her she was 10. (Woody was in his forties.) When he started grooming her she was a teenager. (Woody was over 50). Do you think all victims just suddenly shed the mental conditioning of abuse once they hit a certain age? Many don’t. Not without a LOT of help.

Yeah, I’m pretty jaded about the justice system, but even I wouldn’t have guessed convictions rates were that low. Just 7 out of every 1000. That’s not justice, it’s a bad joke.

I’ll pass on that. I saw the trailer when it came out, that was nauseating enough.

I know, but I also knew if I called him her step-father some literalist would get on my case.

That’s the one! That isn’t the post I replied to, though. His post to me blames Mia and Soon-Yi. Mia for driving Soon-Yi away and Soon-Yi for “using” poor generous Woody.

*hole not whole

If he thinks that this makes him look better? The whole thing is a study in grooming in real time.

Watching him trot out Moses during the custody hearings was disgusting. Even as a kid I can remember thinking it was just...gross. Thankfully, the judge saw right through it.

Her life story is sad all the way around. I have no idea what happened with Mia, but one thing is clear, she never bonded with her adoptive parents. Andre Previn was out of the picture and she loathed Mia. Woody took complete advantage of that.

To the troll above (howdy, Tim): What Mia did or didn’t do is irrelevant. Soon-Yi was a teenager. Woody was a grown man in his fifties.

She’s clearly brainwashed. She had a very traumatic life before coming to live with Mia. Her mother was destitute and abandoned her. She lived on the streets from a young age, eating out of garbage cans. She could easily have been abused prior to her adoption at around age 8.

Soon-Yi is definitely a victim. Though, I’m sure she’s deeply in denial and has no desire to be viewed that way.

Their entire “love story” is a textbook case of grooming. If her claims of abuse by Mia are true, far from discrediting the idea that he groomed Soon-Yi, it would have made her a more likely target. Abusers will often pose as “saviors” to get troubled children to trust them. He’s scum.

Soon-Yi seriously needs a counselor. My message for Woody is more blunt:

Not just rape. Don’t forget, murder is a-ass-okay now, too. Just so long as you bump someone off before you reach 18.

There is no bottom.
