Chapelle is funnier in his sleep than most SNL writers are at peak output. This is not the loss that AVC “writers” seem to think it is.

I’m sure Dave has been told no trans jokes in the monologue, and everything else is written for him. People will tune in for the controversy, and get no controversy. Typical SNL.

This is not redemption. What he said in his special is OK and I agree with it.

The ratings dumpster fire that passes for SNL now needs DC a helluva lot more than he needs them. Quite a charitable chap, he is. 

That presumes that the job of running Warner Bros Discovery involves making decisions that benefit the end user on a long-term basis. It does not. Yeah. Just make it two separate services and bundle it like Disney does with Hulu, ESPN+, and Disney+. Charging people more money if they’re getting more content is fine, but charging them more money for completely unrelated content that they didn’t and don’t want without giving them a way to opt out is terrible.

Wasn’t the point of ditching cable TV so I didn’t have to pay for 9 discovery networks that all played the same 4 show with different identical hosts. I pay for HBO because I want HBO and the host of content they had. I don’t want to go looking for The Venture Brothers and have 6 Property brothers show instead. I…

We re-upped for the annual ad-free plan back in June, so it sounds like the shitty version of the service will arrive in plenty of time for me to decide if it’s worth it to keep going. Not holding my breath.

This is so dumb. I have zero interest in any Discovery programming. I wouldn’t want it on my HBO Max account even if it were free. I really dislike piracy, both for ethical reasons and because it’s a hassle, but it’s sounding better and better every day.

I’ll bet Zaslav is ecstatic that Musk is pile-driving Twitter into the ground, since it will distract from what a shitty job he’s doing at WBD.
