My mother sent birth announcements to POTUS after all 4 of us kids were born. We all got letters back. My brother and I got ours from Bush 41, and my sister and younger brother got them from Clinton. It's a pretty sweet keepsake.

One of the reasons we folded and got our boys an Xbox for Christmas was for its carrot-stick potential. It increases our arsenal.

Yeah. Take the system away and return it and it'll only keep them in line for so long (kids' memories are short, after all), but if you turn it into a carrot to dangle over their heads you get a motivating tool for months to come.

Just went through that last Christmas with my grandma, and it was incredibly special and lovely, despite the underlying sadness we all felt.
