Why not? The basic act of painting is classic, and non-extreme detailing is super harmless. You make it seem like the mental progression from “nude color” to “nude color with a stripe” is one dangerous step on the way to poodle-skin coats and ten-inch heels.

Actually, my very favorite thing about the Coco Chanel story is that while she really, really wanted to be a Nazi collaborator, she fucked it up at just about every turn, to the point where the Nazis didn’t even want to accept her dubious “help.”
