In the comment section on this blog the other day, there was a large debate over this very issue in response to Melinda Gates donating so much money to this cause in foreign countries. It seems Christy Turlington has done an excellent job highlighting the differences in the various health and cultural systems... and…
@Tom.Cruise.Is.Weird: I wish I hadn't heard it. They all deserve to be in jail. And this woman is effing amazing.
Can someone PLEASE make a version of this poster, but compare the men of the two parties? Pretty sure the Dems win hands down. Scott Brown can't touch Slick Willy... And who else do they have Dick Cheny? New Gingrich? Yeah.
What a logical and elegant argument. Too bad you couldn't express it in an equation.
@leviathan: @auburngal: Ah! My husband is not from our country and developed a friendly relationship with the local owner of our BP due to the fact that he is not from the US either. My husband stopped in to tell him why he was boycotting BP. The owner told him that the individual stations basically rent the station…
We're becoming the olds now.
@Cairn: True, but something tells me that have just a few billions stashed away: [www.bp.com] That can go pretty far. And I hope they spend every cent of it cleaning it up. And if they find that they lied or misled the country in *any* way, shape, or form, I hope every top level executive goes to jail and has some or…
@leviathan: Buy your cigarettes, candy, and beverages from those local stations if you feel loyal to your local business. BP doesn't make money off that stuff, and the gas station owners don't make anything off of the oil. Just DON'T buy BP oil no matter what.
@leviathan: Karma would be the BP executives who made the decision to cheap out on blow-out preventors (and Dick Cheney for the his "secret energy task force" that initiated deregulation of the industry) having to swim a mile through the oil.
@zombie_dola: I still believe that people and public pressure does initiate change, despite the amount of money involved. This disaster is unprecedented and pictures like this make people have an emotional response to something that we have grown complacent about. If people work together to demand a better system,…
@Cairn: There are several other oil companies to fill their void. And if an oil company is too big to fail, that all of our fault.
BP is going down. There is no way they will be able to avoid bankruptcy by the time this is all over. Check out the latest projection of how and where the oil will spread according to NOAA: [www.youtube.com] . After all the involved countries sue, they're done. The ONLY potential positive about this is that maybe,…
Honestly, it's no better or worse than the multiple failed attempts BP has made. I mean, put a giant dome over it? Shoot mud into it? Apparently the US government is letting BP handle the operation because of this unequaled "technical expertise."
Ugh. My husband and I are trying to get pregnant and find ourselves talking about what kind of parents we want to be often. We're already flooded with unsolicited advice from family and friends. Since we are a multi-national couple, we'll be traveling a lot with our kids (because we have to and love to.) I absolutely…
@Turtle Wexler: Hah! Spot on! Random appropriate reference award!
What a nice, lovely, and respectful tribute. Truly refreshing.
@DaniFae is so into you but way too smart for you: The prescident that it would set... as horrible, awful, and disgusting as these people are, is even scarier. What could be considered "offensive" demonstrations and therefore illegal is way too broad. However, hopefully Snyder could still win his case via the slander…
I'm a proud femogynist, too!
@UnemployedModel: Very, very interesting.
