The media and a lack of sexual education in schools is the most likely culprits. Think of so many rom-coms where things like this are either heavily implied or explicitly stated (Knocked Up being one example). There are lots of just movie romances that are like this. I hate stating this but even Star Wars’ romance

I always told my sister that she can call me any time, day or night, and I will pick her up if she needs it. She sometimes did.

Having read about the previous exoneration and then conviction of this man before, finding out he may not have committed the murder paints the whole thing in an interesting light, and my mind immediately went to this:

Especially if the jury was manipulated into a conviction.

I’ve recently been showing my niece the Star Wars original trilogy (for now) and I thought it a fine victory when I heard, for her first day of school, that she wanted Leia buns.

I have the feeling they were either hired or coerced.

Mark, sympathy for your pain (I was recently in a bad car crash, so pain is sorta a constant companion) and I wish you the best in your adventures elsewhere. You have brought much amusement to me and disgust to friends I’ve shared your posts with.

I don’t really have a problem with the chosen one narrative, nor with the virgin birth bit, though cliche they are. But there is a lot in the ideas present in the prequel trilogy that grab hold of the imagination, that are amazing and interesting and ambitious.

The basic elements of the prequels are amazing, actually.

So delicious.

I live in Edmonton, and we’ve barely had any snowfall - it rained yesterday. Not even like freezing rain, just straight-up rained.

We recently had a huge (multi-year, cross-Canada) commission on the problems of First Nations groups, especially as relates to the residential school system (a horror in itself) and the stories that came out of it were brutal. Heart-wrenching.

I’ve lived under 10 years of Stephen Harper and 31 years of Progressive Conservative rule in Alberta.

Harper had unlimited contempt for pretty much anyone who wasn’t him, and it really rubbed off on Canada in some very scary respects.
