Escaped Dealership Hell
atx-supraturbo

I have a friend at a Houston area GM dealer. He says that his sales area is busier than normal. So I think it depends on the dealer and what clients they serve. His dealers customers don’t appear to be turned off by anything right now.  It’s not all doom and gloom for dealers, some appear to be thriving.

I have just the alcohol for this situation...

So is this the article before the I’m out of here article? Seems awfully cranky even for Jalopnik as of late.

So if true this will have more power than the 2021 Supra and AWD to launch with?   This could be interesting.

This looks familiar...

Which C&C was this at out of curiosity?

...and you’re killing the planet. Feel guilty and buy an EV!

It’s not your imagination.  I read articles elsewhere then see them pop up later on Jalopnik.

There are actual changes (slightly lower compression pistons, different exhaust manifold) but do I think they are giving 47hp, no. We’ll have to see how much faster this car gets over the “old” 2020 to see how much they under-rated the power.

It didn’t help sell the car nor did the dealer attitude. I looked at the car but their attitude turned me off. I suspect many other people moved on for similar reasons. Now with the 2021 coming out it might be fire-sale time shortly for the 2020 car.

You guys somehow skipped over the “47hp increase” the car is getting for the 2021 3.0 model. I believe the gain is really less than that. Why would anybody buy the 2020 model now?

That’s true. It will have BMW “reliability”. I forgot about that.

They sold 2,884 Supra’s in the US in 2019. Not a great turnout for such a hyped “in-demand” vehicle.

I’d rather have the EcoBoost Mustang than a 4 Cylinder “Supra”.  You can get the magnetic ride suspension and it comes with either 310 or 330hp and 350 torque.  It will move quite well.  The Supra is lighter but that is all it has going for it.

It used to be the Celica Supra and the Supra was the more optioned, higher performing 6 cylinder car, so maybe this should be the Supra Celica?

It’s still all BMW including the 4 cylinder.

Out of what was given I’d say RX-7 or Shelby GT350. I do agree on some choices you mentioned like 911 Turbo and Corvette Z06. I’d say MK4 Supra Turbo but that’s not in your budget range you mentioned but as a plus it is not going to depreciate on you. It might even go up, who knows.   Best of luck to you!

This engine having been in one vehicle that was a limited model of a now dead car they could not have possibly made their money back on this thing. Yet another money spent poorly decision by GM. If this engine doesn’t make it’s way somewhere it was just a waste. Maybe they can pawn this thing off to some other vehicle

One could argue Toyota did not have the guts to bring back the Supra. Look at the current one, they wrote a check to a competitor, tuned it a little and rave about how they did this great thing. Yet they really did very little, said the car needs an Inline 6 (A 4 cylinder model exists elsewhere, rumor it is coming
