Elektra is one of the reasons a female superhero didn’t get a solo movie until this year. It can only be underrated if you’re comparing it to Human Centipede

Whoa whoa whoa...the “criminally underrated Elektra” film? Underrated by whom, exactly? It’s one of the worst superhero films ever made, and certainly one of the only ones I’ve almost fallen asleep during.

The ret-con as you call it on POI, wasn’t stupid. The love between those two characters was there from day one, but wasn’t acted upon because America (perhaps the rest of the western world), aren’t ready for a mixed race couple, if the woman is black.

Borderline?

You just hit the nail on the head with this comment as a black woman I did not enjoy my main character being sidelined for a white woman Abby became secondary and I stopped watching

Orlando more or less tweeted that he was fired. He was asked on twitter if it was his choice to leave and he said it wasn’t.

You also look at their safety differently.

Honestly that was my first inkling that the third season would continue down the horribly wrong path.

It’s Ichabbie.

He already actively looks out for her. Haven’t you been watching the show?

People bring up this argument all the time that it would “change the dynamic.” How? How would a romance change anything? They already have great chemistry, do you think they’d stop fighting to stop the Apocalypse to bump uglies?

I mean, if they didn’t want Ichabod and Abbie to get together, they could have given Abbie the hot ex demure scholar /honeypot/badass spy (of either sex). It would have been a million times less disrespectful to the women already on the show, and BONUS: provided something for Ichabod to grumble about adorably in the

uhhhh no it didn’t, that was the second to last episode

Yes, Iris is a sterling example of black female love interests for white male main characters despite the fact that at no point in the first season was she his girlfriend, he just mooned over her, and not only is it confirmed that she won’t be his girlfriend in the second season, but they’re introducing a white girl

Apparently, the showrunners would rather have an unsuccessful series with white leads than a successful series with multiracial leads. I will read the early-season-3 cancellation notice with interest, but I hate that Nicole Beharie and Orlando Jones are being treated with so much unwarranted contempt and hope that one

The best thing about S2 was the finale. Getting rid Ole watshername and Indiana Scrappy-Doo, resetting the story arc... I guess I’d hoped they’d learned something.

It’s still just one series, though. One show avoiding an uncomfortable trope doesn’t validate countless others embracing it.
