I do not want my Star Trek full of young, sexy, edgy characters. I want characters with class, grace, and gravitas. Star Trek 2009 failed that measure, and given this news, I have little hope for the future of the franchise.

Interesting, especially given the photo above. If I was into conspiracies and what not, I might suspect that Joss Whedon is somehow behind Chris Evans' hair loss with the intent of eventually vanquishing him and assuming his identity just in time for Captain America 2. Have there been any Avengers spoilers in the

I wonder if Jack Gleeson needs to worry about random acts of slapping.

Hmm... good catch. A Captain America with pattern baldness would be a truly bold move.

It might have a few of the elements, but I just really can't see Doctor Who as space opera.

Space opera is probably my favorite genre, and I'm thrilled with this list. It includes many of my favorites and provides me with some older stuff that I should add to my collection.

I must have been really out of it. I've seen the first five or six episodes three or four times, and I don't think I ever got that they were in Paris. Or maybe I'd just forgotten.

At what point do they get to Europe? I try watching the series from time to time, and it always starts to drag... then I shut it off and try again in another two years.

Oh.

I've never read/seen Twilight, but I do have a Twilight question. Given that vampires never age and that Bella had a weird little vampire baby at the end of the last movie, does that mean that the baby will stay a baby for all of eternity? (Or until Blade shows up)

No, but you're not the first person to ask that question. In fact, I think that same question has been asked on io9 at least 10,000 times.

Looks like I live in a pretty water-safe area of Baltimore City, though if I'd been willing to spend more when I bought my house, I probably would have bought something closer to the Chesapeake... making the future a little less certain.

Though I think Plan 9 has emerged into a sort of "so bad it's good" phase.

Though it would amuse me to include it in this bracket... just for old time's sake.

Hyperion is weird and excellent and also probably my all-time favorite, but it just seems like it would be an oddball in this list. A lot of these books (or at least the ones I've read) seem largely weird because the human characters are stuck (willingly or otherwise) in a particular mental or metaphysical state.

I was just about to go post this link. Great episode.

Ah, Game of Thrones.

I might be excited for this... provided that they don't just look like bulky sunglasses. I'm thinking thick-rimmed hipster glasses would be perfect. Seriously. I've been looking for an excuse to go back to contacts.

"The model: Any particular episode will have roughly 90 percent self-contained story... But for some reason, these shows also feel the need to have a larger, ongoing story that serves as the spine for a season."

Agreed... that was such a good game.
