My wife uses a slightly different technique. She uses the lid from a large pot and places it over the frying pan. When she needs to lift it up, you still get a bit of spatter, but it prevents a lot.

Not sure how this wireless extender works but setting up a second router with dd-wrt as a wireless bridge is not suggested. It yields much slower speeds than having the second wifi router connected via ethernet. just sayin'
