HBO HD OnDemand via Xfinity TV used to have a half-dozen 3D titles at a time, basically whatever was new on HBO within the past year. I just checked and they don’t have them anymore.

I really hope they come back sooner. The movie studios aren’t about to stop making 3D movies, because everybody makes more money on 3D. The more content, the more demand — and I bet more people will pay a higher premium for a 3D disc than they will for a UHD disc. The difference between 2D and 3D is super-obvious and…

The recipe that works for me is to watch the theatrical teaser(s) and theatrical trailer(s), note who wrote and who’s directing, and avoid everything else.

It’s not consistently enforceable, but that’s fine. The asshats probably prefer it. What they want is for the Other to be afraid, so that they retreat from asshat view and asshat consciousness. A law that could at any time be used to harass you for failing to kowtow to their standards of public normalcy is just peachy.

Fans would be better served by the logo-only approach, because the biggest IMAX screen wouldn’t be sold out for the entire weekend before you could get your crew to figure out when you can get together and go see it.

This gave me a new hope... and then crushed it as I browsed LG TVs and saw 3D was removed from the 7 series. Isn’t it weird that everyone has removed 3D capability? I can understand not pushing it as a feature, but if they already had the technology in-hand, why drop it? Sigh.
