Are you sure those formulas are right? I thought the formula reciprocated mpg so it was a gpm figure and averaged those.

It bugs me that hybridcars.com characterizes it that way. It doesn’t provide a relative advantage, because GM’s Cruze is held to the same standard as Honda’s Civic. It just neutralizes the previous advantage had by manufacturers that didn’t build larger vehicles.
