Lobster was poverty food, Here in Maryland, Oysters and crabs were eaten by poor folks. They are all delicious. and brisket wasn’t poverty food, it was a poverty treat—-a big cut of meat served at a special dinner to the whole family. Most folks wouldn’t eat that much meat in a normal month!

I have been in several Fallout shelters in Baltimore. Two of them still had the remain of their rations. I’m pretty sure one of them was in a basement of a train shed at the B&O Railroad Museum (workshop, not the roundhouse)
