But Homelander CLEARLY is against any racist bullshit or Aryan agenda. No need to argue the subtlety of that, since any time Stormfront or whatever her name was would try to talk some Nazi shit he would be like “wtf???? no!”

This show. Starship Troopers. Fight Club. The Punisher.

Satire is correct, maybe too broad for some, but rarely/never outright parody. If a light touch is what leads a generation of men to think Tyler Durden is a hero, then I’ll gladly accept an approach with heavier hands.

I get that, as a showrunner, Kripke is getting a lot of catharsis from exploring the awfulness of those in power. As a viewer, my catharsis comes from seeing the godawful powerful bonked over the head and brought low. If he spends much more on the former, then I’m bailing because I don’t think I want to wait for the

Closet fascists have very poor media literacy skills

As Starship Troopers proved, no matter how obvious and clear a Satire is there will always be people who take it at face value.

I’m so confused that people are confused about this.

Colon cancer is rough, especially at his relatively young age. He was still 10 years younger than the recommended age to get a colonoscopy.

Aw, he was Asmodeus Alice as well! Hope he had fun doing what he did, I know I sure have when listening to it. Rest in peace (or party it up, w/e your preference)!

It’s been all over the place as Tragedy of Macbeth was on AppleTV

Who does A24 have a deal with? I think it is/was Amazon Prime. Midsommar was there forever before heading over to Showtime. I think this one is easily worth the $20

For a second I was excited that this would be an animated show. I am less excited.

I enjoyed the comic books, but the character dialogue always felt off. It never felt like how teenage girls would talk and react, but how a middle-aged man would imagine that teenage girls talked and reacted. The characters felt generic as a result, as if you could replace them with boys, adults, robots, or whatever.

Everyone is all about Marvel succeeding in making a coherent (?) cinematic universe and making a load of money on it. But instead of trying to milk that vein, they should try to find the next big vein instead. Or, at least, emulate what made the MCU successful, rather than just emulating the MCU as it is.

Honestly, it looks like a legit sneaky sequel. Cartoons and humans together? Washed up detectives solving a crime? A wacky duo whose relationship is rocky for the first half of the film? Different artstyle varieties of cartoons existing in the same space? Sounds like a sequel to me in all but name. I am also game! :D

Sounds like a modern who framed roger rabbit. Even has him in it. Man they’re looking to stretch that PG rating on this. I’m game

Yeah, I’ve not seen all of Encanto yet, but there’s so much going on in those scenes. They look like everyone is a live actor, reacting to the scene as it unfolds.

Completely agree. It’s time to end the snobbery around animation.

The industry could start by treating the writers of animated films the same way as they treat those of live-action movies. Their residuals are not distributed in the same way —if they get them at all.

I’ve worked in and adjacent to animation industry for a long time. This sort of all goes back to “Beauty & The Beast”. The only animated film ever nominated for best picture. Sadly, some people were up in arms at the time. Sally Field introduced its nomination in an incredibly back-handed way. As a result animation
