There's a Dawn-shaped hole in the idea that Whedon wouldn't keep a character around after there was nowhere else to take them.

[buzzkill reminder that Whedon fired Charisma Carpenter because she got pregnant]
I am so fucking sick of Joss Whedon being asked about feminism and "strong female role models". I can speak for myself, Joss!!! And, you know what, I like the 'ist' in 'feminist'. Just like I like the 'ist' in 'activist' and 'humanist'. I like that it brings a good, hard ending to femin because then, when I…
A theory: most drugs are tested on middle class white people. (Usually middle class white men, but in case of fertility drugs, likely women.) This means that the data that is generated and presented as being true about the drug is really true about the drug for that set of patients. Lots of drugs have been found to be…
One of the most hurtful and disturbing moments in my life was the attitude that my FORMER gyno had towards my miscarriage. Essentially, she didn't think it was a big deal. She just made this assumption that I didn't want kids or that they might be a problem for me despite the fact that I'm a married professional ...…
Did they find these women reported greater benefits than women who lost weight other ways? Or are there not enough women with BMIs over 44 who can achieve and maintain such significant weight loss long term except through bariatric surgery to be able to compare?
If it makes you feel any better I totally would have turned around ASAP.
I know, fuck me, right?
Runners are tough as shit. I used to coach men's and women's cross country at a small highschool so the teams trained together. The men were generally faster, so for our first 9 mile run I said the guys would have to run the whole way, but the women could turn around when they saw the first runner coming back their…
It's so bad, but I went as Ryu and my wife as Chun Li for Halloween... :-P
It was during the "Cell Block Tango" number. I guess it made him realize the house is just chock-full of impromptu murder weapons.
Yeah, I was going to say. There are approximately a gajillion true crime compendiums called "Deadly Women" or "Femmes Fatales" or "Ladies Who Off People".
In public there is actually very little talk about female murderers.
When I watched "Chicago" w/ Mr. SyDy:
Him: If you were going to kill me, how would you do it?
Me: If I tell you now, it'll spoil the surprise...
Yes. That is exactly why. So many problems would be immediately solved if everyone could just get their minds around the notion that women are autonomous individuals who do not exist for the purposes of public consumption.
Why does our society have such a hard time with the concept of "consent"? Is it because we still don't believe women are actual people, and not just livestock/property? Seriously, get it the fuck together, US.
This is absolutely disgusting, and the fact that this man, or anyone, thinks they have the right to photograph up a womans skirt/shorts/etc. is just abhorrent. You have absolutely no right to see what is "up my skirt" just because I am wearing a skirt. You have the right to see what is "up my skirt" if I pull up my…
If you have to go out of your way to take a picture of a ladies undergarments then yes I think you have an expectation of privacy. These ladies aren't going around buck naked and getting angry because people took pictures of them. Someone targeted them for harassment and violated their personal space. That's illegal.
