Netflix never manages to recommend me shows I actually want to watch, either. I’ve watched every season of “Call the Midwife” at least 3 times, but do they tell me when there’s new episodes? Nope, never. But they’ll certainly email me to let me know “Always Sunny” has a new season! Even though I hate that show!

My Mad Fat Diary is WONDERFUL!!! I am glad you recommended it. I was sad when it ended. Everyone in it was nuanced and the writing was wonderful and the acting was terrific. Really good story telling.

I’ll second this. I “watched” (more like “cringed”) through one episode of Insatiable before switching it off. My Mad Fat Diary is...uncomfortable. That’s my being unkind about it, but it’s a brilliantly written, brilliantly acted drama. And it really, really gut-punches you with aspects of teen mental health problems…

You have no idea how much I appreciate your sacrifice watching this so that I can then send this article to anyone who tries to tell me “it’s worth trying, no really, it’s super dark and funny!”

I watched it based on recommendations here and I loved it.  It was definitely not an easy watch, but it was so good.

Oooh, I didn’t know it was on Hulu! I don’t think I ever got to the 3rd season, I kinda forgot/got distracted before it came out, but I will def watch it now. Such a good show!

My Mad Fat Diary is like a healing salve for this show. It’s soooo good! I’ve only watched the BBC version. Did Hulu change up the soundtrack?

MMFD is so difficult to watch, but so good. As someone who has been both pretty mentally ill and pretty fat most of my life, it felt really real. 

I just want everyone to just watch My Mad Fat Diary instead. (You can catch it on Hulu, but the original ultra ‘90s music is found in bootleg streams):
