To be fair, the history of motorsport and land speed records in particular is a very bloody tale. The engineering and safety factors behind these new “production” cars are way WAY more favorable to driver safety than the brave souls driving coffins on wheels who sought speed records 50-100 years ago.

8100 lb ft of wheel torque? A new automatic mustang gt puts out 7300 lb ft at the wheels in first gear.

The speed wars will continue until a professional driver gets killed pursuing it

I mean, that would be a cool record too if nobody gets seriously hurt

I look forward to them smashing through the 300mph mark with this

It’s very, very fast for a cruiser. It just about matches my 15 year old sport touring bike.

Neutral: Start funding MSF courses and provide H-D motorcycles for learners to ride during said courses. Offer them to young urbanites and anyone who’s never ridden before, for a very small fee (or free). THIS will get people who’ve never been on any motorcycle, let alone a Harley, to hop on one and experience a

You say that, till you drop a heavy 3-ring binder on your toes.

Any car leading a life of utility rather than as a status symbol, looks better with steelies. They boldly claim “I ain’t here for the beauty contest, I’m here to get shit done.” See also: Men who wear boots to work and not dress shoes.

Can confirm, my truck has rear-only ABS (on drums to boot!). 1997 F-250HD.

I don’t usually mix up a batch until I need to do a coolant refill on one of my cars. That usually uses two of the four jugs, and then the other two I keep in the trunk to top things up as they slowly leak because I drive 20+ year old shitboxes.

I buy two gallons of antifreeze, two gallons of distilled water, pour all four jugs into a 5-gal bucket, stir, then pour the 50/50 mix back into all four jugs and use a big sharpie to label them all “PRE-MIXED (date here)”

Half the world is comprised of middlemen. That part of the economic sector won't go away without a fight to the death

Yeah every time I rode that Tassajara, I marveled at just how light it was for a MTB. Very lively.

Sweet restomod project, Raph! The only old bike I’ve had recently was a late 90s Gary Fisher Tassajara, which I sold to a friend who needed a cheap but reliable bike for transportation. He still has it a few years later, though he bought an e-bike so now that Tassajara is sitting. I’m thinking about buying it back

Counterpoint: those few precious seconds of full throttle rocket ship acceleration are what makes these high powered bikes so attractive and sought-after. It's not ludicrous to enjoy being the quickest thing on the road from time to time.

It’ll be awesome while it lasts though, hopefully at least 8 years of production so they can get cheap later.

For anyone complaining about states’ rights, are you also upset about the feds claiming supremacy over the various midwestern states’ Firearms Freedom Acts?

This photo is peak Sweden circa 1988

It’s a combination of things. The most important is that the social environment they have grown into, is not conducive to saving money. When your friends and family are all largely in the working class or lower economic stratum, it’s difficult to continue being involved in their lives as peers when everyone knows
