As just a few examples, a 20-year copyright would make the first Game of Thrones and Harry Potter books public domain, and a 30-year one would make all 3 of the original Star Wars movies and the full original Star Trek public domain.
20 years should be plenty for copyright; a case could be made for 30, but anything past that is objectively ludicrous.
