2nd Gear Start

What year? I had a 97 hombre with the little 4 pot and the 5 speed. Loved that little thing. It was so bare bones, it had the radio delete from the factory. The only issue I had was it liked to eat one of the 4 coils about once a year. Almost 200k miles so it was hard to complain about. Still probably one of the

I drive an HD pickup with a manual, always with the traction control off and the exhaust brakes on auto, a little bit of rain and it takes very little to step the back end out going around a corner. The nice part is it is just as easily controlled as it was in my M3 with all the computers helping me not crash.

This.

$250? I was expecting $350 for a 3300 piece set with a license needed behind it.

I’ve had my 1973 spanish dirt bike registered in Idaho for 15 years or so. It hasn’t really be running for most of that time or spend any time on a public road, nor has it been in that state. I’m really only doing it as a paper trail so I can register it in Hawaii once I get it running reliably.

I was sold until whiny rear end and thermostat aka: overheating issues.  Awesome idea but too much for a vehicle that has (most likely) paint over rust and drivetrain issues.  If it was in mostly functioning order, I’d be seriously considering relocating it to a more tropical climate.

With enough torque, a really tall top gear is awesome. I have a manual HD pickup and I wish it had a 7th because 1700 rpms at 65 is kinda high, given the motor. It could be just barely touching 1000 at 55 without issue.

I’d agree assuming we are talking human driven right? The mars rovers deserve some credit if not.

I’m torn on this. I’m a huge bronco fan. Loved my 87 and spent waaaay too many hours messing with it....but this isn’t 70s to 90s ford. Their current marketing campaign for the ford explorer: “The all-new 2020 Ford Explorer. It’s the greatest exploration vehicle of all time.” I mean, fucking really? I guess, if you

“Should” be grandfathered.  I have a number of individual discounts I couldn’t get back so I’m not changing anything unless they start murdering my connection.  I figure that will happen in a couple months.

The biggest issue isn’t that it is throttled...but now much it is throttled. I live in a pretty rural area so even when I exceed the 22gig by a little bit, which isn’t abnormal, I get left alone. But if I move to a “congested” area, like the only populated area for 100 miles, speeds are reduced below 2g to a point

The auto does have a select option but what it does not allow you to do is shift into a higher gear when the computer disagrees. I don’t want to lug the engine but that sluggish inline 6 doesn’t need to be wrung out all the time going up a hill, or down. That is what the exhaust brake is for, and it works amazingly

Honestly, and I know this is a pretty minor thing, but I bought the manual in the 2500 partially for the fuel economy. The 6 speed has taller gearing and gets significantly better economy on the highway. Diesel is expensive in Hawaii and, while I haul a fair amount of heavy stuff, I rarely tow. The HP and torque are

Huh, I’ve never seen my grid heater light come on, even in the low 40s. Maybe my cheaper version doesn’t have it?

That’s fair.  I do think the continental has aged well though.  As a DD for just me to go to work, I’d probably take the GT.  Not sure if it is significantly smaller but it looks that way.  Also, I’d feel slightly less bad about having to drive over gravel once in a while.

This.  The most dangerous thing for Harley is cross shopping.  A better option can be found in almost any measurable metric except, perhaps, resale.

I’ve seen prestine mid 2000s continental GTs for 30ish with mileage to match the price.  Ultimately a VW and with really low mileage, it probably isn’t too bad as a DD if you don’t abuse it.

Why hello there. I listed facts and I’m more than willing to listen to a differing point of view.

Oh no, I get the point. I had a 40 year old military truck with an air cooled motor. All torque and very little horsepower. 7000 lbs and less horsepower then the harley in this article actually.  It would beat nearly any stock, street legal off road vehicle like a drum. It excelled at it what it was designed for. That

You are right. I should compare apples to apples. My 500cc air cooled briggs and stratton ride on lawn mower has about 20 horsepower so if we scale that up, yeah, the harley would be more powerful. That is a way better comparison then other vehicles that do the same thing and compete in its class.
