Mmm...dat Datsun.  Lost me on the fiat though.  The fiat makes anything look bad.

That white interior. It is really nice looking. I was expecting to hate it but quite the opposite...except the middle class peasant in me just knows it would be a nightmare to keep clean.

Interesting read on the article and some are fair points. I’m not sure why they are harder on tires, other than perhaps heavier torque from a stop. Also, there is no difference here between the cost of registration and insurance (that is personal and not fleet though). Not sure why there would be. The weight

Ok so fuelly.com lists the average as 18 diesel and 13 gas. So over only 200000 miles, that’s a difference of $15000. Diesel still comes out on top. Again, before lower maintenance costs. You keep mentioning all these studies but you don’t link any of them.

If only. I’m pretty sure they wont allow the diesel manual because that powertrain isnt available here. This is basically the new bronco I really want. Stripped out, diesel, manual, two door, but with toyota build quality.

I’m actually not. The numbers I used are 20 and 16 for the calculations, which is only a 20% efficiency advantage, which is a bit unfair to the diesels, and that still gives the diesels an overall cost advantage over the mileage you specified.

Efficiency may be irrelevant to you, but not to everyone. I need my truck to go a certain distance between fill-ups, and I prefer getting 20+ mpg to 10. Over 250k miles, double the fuel economy makes the diesel cheaper to own over the long haul and not by a small amount. $43k (250000/20=12500 gallons x $3.50) in fuel

Diesels still have a significant edge on efficiency.  You can’t buy an HD pickup with any gas motor and get the same fuel economy, empty, full, or towing.  The cost of entry is steep but it total cost of ownership will depend on how long you keep the vehicle and diesels, often, outlive their gas counterparts.

Huh, I figured it was still the same block.  I’ll have to look up when they switched.  Thanks.

To be fair, the I6 in my truck is a diesel, but it is still slow as hell with the manual.  Very much detuned because of the merc transmission.  Rarely used for towing (cardinal sin I know) but it will take 3000 lbs of concrete in the bed and I barely notice.

That old vortec v6 (350 with two cyls cut off) has been around for a loooooong time.  The only real problem with it is the lack of efficiency.  Never had any problems with a lack of go.  Drop a turbo on that little monster and you have a Syclone or Typhoon.  I never had any issues hauling stuff with my Syclone...well

Maybe someday, people will stop comparing engine cyl counts.  I have a 6 in my truck and it is totally fine.  Better economy than that little 4 on the highway.  It is never in a hurry to get anywhere but who am I racing in my pickup?  That being said, I truly miss the rumble from my old bronco’s V8, but it wasn’t in a

4 doors and looks like a small flex.  That’s two deal breakers for me.

And then they add a 10k mark up.

I’m glad you aren’t but you aren’t the norm. It is an image and lifestyle. Hell south park did an entire episode. That doesn’t happen if it is only a few people. I’ve been riding for 35 years. Many brands and models. I currently have a Duc that is bone stock, and I could set alarms off too....if I were an asshole.

You just don’t understand the demographic. There is an objectively better bike in every category and for every metric...except resale value. There is no logic to buying a harley. See: South Park: The F Word.

No, but they are the ones that had dealerships selling them illegally off the showroom floor with screaming asshole pipes.  Many bikes get loud pipes but it is a lifestyle to be obnoxious dbags for harley riders.  Pretty sure it is in the manual.

I have a quad fold that locks fully up at the front to protect the window. I lose very little space that way and still keep the utility of a giant trunk and/or bed. The roll up covers take a lot of space unless it is a soft cover and then...just why?
