You see, that’s the thing, the British were perfectly capable of building plush, gas guzzling, wallowy land yachts with full power features. They just built them by hand, in very limited quantities, and priced the same as a suburban house. The United States, in contrast, mass produced them by the millions at prices

I mean...he sort of has a point. Huge American boats simply don’t fit on tiny British roads.

Tesla would get a huge ROI if they spend $65K a year on a manager who’s sole job was to follow Elon everywhere with a spraybottle of icewater and blast him in the face every time he is about to say date of any sort.

Ok... Mr. smarty-pants… What’s his Muslim name?

Journalists Need to Stop Doing this Sneaky Click Baity Trick in Their Headlines.”

Wow - I read almost most of these 260+ responses and did not see the answer. The reason why the cost is split out, is it is not taxed, and many of the US states require that all taxes and fees be listed separately so you don’t see just one price. Yes the fee is annoying, and yes it is dumb as hell that car

Tesla model 3 base price here is 60k here ... That’s somehow more than even what our dollar is worth. It’s literally cheaper to buy it stateside and convert your dollars over.

** Some incentives may not be available on all planes of reality.

You are wrong, ma’am. OBJECTIVELY WRONG! These billboards are a wonderful cultural icon of I-95, and should be respected as much.

Lying about SoA preventing them from putting the markup on the website? That’s my real question.... I mean, I actually understand the markup, because a WRX is one of those models that sell themselves and people come to a dealership specifically to get that and only that, so they can definitely make a profit on them...

I turned all of mine into a collection of convertibles. With a hammer.

make it about Matchbox, which is an arguably better brand without the absurdity of the Hotwheels range

or when their “internet special price” includes all available incentives, including ones that would be mutually exclusive. “Get a brand new Accord for $20* per month!”

Wait until you see the price when you upgrade to the model with more than 10 miles of range!

I was looking at some WRXs on a Subaru dealer’s site and doing some math, considering possibly trading in for one when I went to get service done. I got there and there’s a $4,000 markup on the actual window sticker that was NOT on their website at all.

If you think that is bad, you should see how Tesla’s website does it. You have your price* ‘after tax incentives and fuel savings’ Granted they are a little more transparent at the bottom, but still.

Maybe they got the idea from the airlines. American Airlines Economy Fares automatically put you in a middle seat so you’ll spend even more to move to an aisle or window. Between that and the lack of entertainment on most of their flights, fuck you, AA, you’re the worst. As for you, United, which advertises fares that

Milk is ridiculously and crazily regulated based on the distance from Wisconsin. I’ve heard. Too lazy to google.

I actually would love a breakdown showing transport costs, especially if they relate to untaxed costs related to global warming. So in your example, local milk might be “better” even if it is 25 cents more

I don’t think Toyota is riding on it’s past reputation for quality. They still make many of the most reliable vehicles around. They’re not exciting. Most of what they do isn’t innovative either, but they’re reliable. The Big 3 made a lot of really crappy cars in the 70s, 80s and 90s. That’s what cost them their

Some people are able to look past the numbers on a piece of paper and buy something with, higher quality, reliability and with three pedals. It isn’t riding the coattails when your product is still the best in its class by a long shot.
