Uh…you do realize that in order for birds to evolve from dinosaurs, they had to evolve at a time when there still were extant non-avian dinosaurs around to evolve from, right?

Ammonites and birds coexisted for, oh, about 90 million years. Plenty of time for a bird to pick one off the beach, I imagine.
