The biggest beneficiary of the lineup may have been the Simpsons. Can you imagine just how unpalatable those early, post-golden age episodes would have been if they hadn't come candy coated by 3 shows that were enjoying creative heights?

Agreed. I'd stack that Sunday Fox comedy lineup of Futurama, King of the Hill, the Simpsons, and Malcom against anything.
