LOL sorry had to reply to this, I actually have WORKED in the biomedical industry and my partner has actually done research on different types of diet in mice as well as the health of mice at different weights.
You just equated thinness with healthiness and I don't think that's what the initial comment said. She said that when you compare the potential health risk of a "metabolically healthy" larger person versus a naturally thin person, they are basically the same. The thin person has no added advantage from just being…
"But letting human beings suffer with a treatable disease is not treating them very kindly"
Actually, studies have shown that being slightly obese gives you the best chance to live a long and healthy life. So no, "the science" is not on anyone's side, since the correlation "fat = unhealthy" is an oversimplification of a very, very complex topic.
But we don't actually know that fat is a bad state to be in. The evidence is all over the place. First, the mortality rates simply do not bear out that most fat people die sooner. Fat old people are more likely to survive their cancer and heart surgery. The metabolically healthy obese are real and at least 25% of fat…
HAES, "Health at every size," is absolutely the way to go, it's the only thing that makes sense! We need to let go of the idea that skinny = healthy and overweight = unhealthy, because it just isn't necessarily true! When I suffered from panic attacks and vertigo I was nauseous 24/7 and didn't eat anything. It was the…
Good for you! I think focusing on what your body can do (like run a mile without stopping) and taking care of your body with nutrition (including a variety of good foods and occasional treats) is way better than trying to make some "diet" work. For me, it's about focusing on positives, not negatives.
Great article. I recently gave up dieting and started running/ portion control (is that still a diet? it feels a lot better either way) because traditional dieting triggered eating disorder habits I've been trying to be rid of since I was 17. Here's to health!
Nope. That's wrong.
People shouldn't say someone is guilty of rape "when they have not been found guilty" of rape. That's logic — though it's not what you said.
You said "accuse." And of course you can accuse "people of rape when they haven't been found guilty of it." That's how the world works. That's how the law…
I take solace in the fact that we now know for a fact that we have a worthy successor waiting to take over the host's chair when Stewart decides to hang it up.
Nobody else is paying for it; it's coming from the premiums we ourselves pay.
SOMEONE IN FINANCE IS A NARCISSISTIC ASSHOLE??
I get what you're saying but if a human being has to literally starve herself and work out constantly to get the ideal physique, perhaps we need to change what the ideal physique is.
come on Jezzies, really? the Jen story makes me sad- sad that at 40 something and she needs to play an oiled up stripper and tell us about how hard she works & diets to still fit this young, sexy ideal. It feels a little desperate & sad. Especially since she's played roles (the Good Girl) where she's demonstrated…
It looks like the PR team with this "car crash" has accomplished its goal.
Please. Your defense of this murderer is pathetic.
It isn't the 9/11 comment per se, it's the flaw in critical thinking demonstrated by the 9/11 comment.
