Really?

Yeah, it’s called the United States.

Without going back and checking I’ll have to take your word for it. I remember an episode in 2nd gig where she visits an antique shop and her past is alluded to but never expressly stated. Still. It doesnt change the fact that she is essentially a post race individual. Her race and gender are not important to her

I thought Saito’s and Paz’s designs were obviously Asian. Everyone else? Mostly European.

Although I’m staunchingly anti white-washing, it could actually work for GitS considering the Major has a full body prosthesis that can look however she wants, and which she occasionally changes. Batou (Bateau) also looks very European, as does Togusa, despite their names. Saito and Paz are the most Asian looking

It’s not that all Asians look alike, at all. And no, Asians have a hard time finding acting roles. So it’s not the same thing as white washing. If you can get a person who is actually from that country, great. But the next-best thing is clearly another person from East Asia. East Asian American actors play East Asian

Majority of the characters don’t look Japanese. Hell Majority of characters in Anime as a whole don’t look Japanese. Most of them are very ambiguous, but their environments, names, personalities and cultures are what define them as such.

And with that ambiguity comes cultural bias. When a Japanese person see’s an Anime

Because it’s easier to blend in when you are doing covert things to look like one of the citizens of the area. There is no excuse for them doing this over and over again.

It doesn’t make sense for a covert Japanese agent who works in Japan to have an American white female body. She’ll stick out like a sore thumb.

Good thing the Major’s military background in the Japanese self-defense forces, her citizenship within Japan, and her cultural identity as a Japanese person amid a country that is increasingly impacted by a post-war Asian refugee crisis never factor into anything she does.

... came here looking for “what’s the Dealio?”

I check my tire pressure and fill up my blinker fluid every morning.

“if you criticize the woman at the business meeting for her inappropriate skin-tight tube dress, you will be called a ‘slut shamer’”

Sunglasses are smart. It’s always best to avoid eye contact and pretend you can’t see or hear them.

In regards to “dress how you want to be addressed”:

RoK’s military is actually very professional, and well trained. I’d say they’re probably one of the best, if not the best, out of the Asian countries in terms of training, tactics, and professionalism.

The amount of people confusing North and South Korea is comical.

South Koreans are hard core and very professional. I've worked with ROK Marines...world class.

Except of course they are on the same side as us.
