So many (I used to be included) make such a big deal about straight clearance. But gearing, real locking center diff and suspension travel make SUCH a real difference between kind of making it vs. doing so easily without maxing out the vehicle.

Here’s another capable Subaru in Moab, pulling off Lockhart basin trail. Second gen legacy with a CLSD rear end and an Aussie dual range 5 speed stick. Not spectacular drone footage (like that other Leggo), just a real trail drive in a real car.
That was an H-6 3.6 sedan, 5 speed auto with traction bells and whistles (as they come) on OB suspension, plus skidplate.
White Rim, pavement to pavement (potash to Mineral Bottom) in under 5.5 hours: modified ‘95 Legacy, 5-speed.
Outback struts, shocks and springs, plus a skid plate can do a LOT for a legacy.
That’s a solid bit of work for a minimally modified 3.6 liter, 5 EAT powerful and techy Subaru!! VDC does fantastic work controlling wheelspin and putting the power where it needs to go. Yes, compare that to other FT AWD systems and you’ll quickly see the weaknesses in those systems!!
