I had a moment of horror today.

Here’s the exotic food section in a fancy Istanbul supermarket. Blueberries, avocados, and sweet potatoes are considered exotic.

I’ve been in a tiny village in Turkey. Here’s my husband’s 400+ year-old ancestral house. They were ethnic Turks in the Russian empire and were forced out in the 1500’s. They ended up in here. We’re ten minutes from the Black Sea.
Update: I am much better, but still stuffy. I’m currently waiting at SFO armed with a ton of cold medicine. Istanbul in about 15 hours!
I just got home after 17 days in Oregon and I leave for Turkey on Friday.

I was teaching math today and one of my kids sneezed on me. Happens all the time because they’re second graders and gross.

So... my husband got the last two weeks of July off of work and I no longer need to go to PD in mid-July.
I have a cold. 21 days of school left. Signed my contract at SFUSD yesterday.
