Seriously. And she's still likely under 25, when most women don't have shitty periods and can recover better from everything. The first day of my period you'd need a forklift to get me off the couch.

Yeah that’s really not the response I expected! I’m always kind of discourged by the assumption that everyone is or should be on hormonal birth control. For me it caused way more problems than it was worth, and it was the kind where you are only supposed to get a period every 3 months, but it never did work that way

Yeah. It kinda irked me that Fu said "I'm feeling a bit weak, but this is not an excuse."It still sounds like this athlete is shaming herself. I wish she had said "There's an earthquake AND a giant tsunami assaulting my uterus, but I kicked ass anyway."

Okay, I am a little shocked at the number of comments about how Fu Yuanhei should have used hormonal birth control to skip her period for Rio. Lady is an elite athlete who no doubt has tracked her fitness relative to nutrition, medications, rest, etc. for years. Shouldn't we give her the benefit of assuming she knows

As someone who feels like her uterine lining is ripped out and gets massive headaches every month, I salute you for swimming in the Olympics with your rag, Fu Yuanhui.

Maybe she’s not on hormonal birth control. It screws with some people, and I can see what would be minor symptoms for a normal person being a challenge for an elite athlete in prime training.

Ugh I REALLY wanted Hernandez to win gold.

I HATE how long they delay gymnastics airing. I can’t stay up until 11 every night dammit.

Aaaand... cue me googling “hypebeast” and realizing, for the umpteenth time this week, how old I am. I’ve definitely reached a watershed moment of barely understanding what is going on with the young people anymore.

I had an off-and-on thing once, and you know what? I don’t understand it either.
