My latest desktop is the first PC that runs Ubuntu without ANY issues whatsoever. I have been using Ubuntu on it for three months and have been very happy with it. I have always been fascinated by Ubuntu (7.04), but all of my previous hardware would run into one or another problem while running the OS.

Windows 7 will install almost all drivers for you through Windows Update. XP is 10 years old, no wonder it feels shitty today.

As if the human population isn't exploding fast enough already...

Ah, and PlayOnLinux is an excellent wrapper of the stupid Wine app.

Note: Since Flash for Linux will no longer be getting major updates, the only way to keep using the latest version is by using Chrome. Chromium doesn't come bundled with Flash.

Yes. Mini isn't a true browser - it serves web pages after compressing them through Opera's servers. Opera Mobile is a true mobile browser that probably uses the same Presto engine as desktop Opera.

Yes, the desktop version can import most of your Firefox settings. Or you can simply export your bookmarks from Firefox and import them to Chrome.

What website do you use on mobile that requires Flash? :\

I don't think Dolphin HD and Mini should be put together. The HD version recently got a big update that promises improved JS performance among other things. Meanwhile, Mini hasn't been updated in around four months, so they clearly don't share the core engine underneath. I believe Mini is more like a skin over the

My mom uses Opera. She had absolutely no freaking idea about computers, so teaching her to use Opera was very easy. She mostly visits cooking sites and stuff. I have a copy of Opera on my desktop, and whenever I find an interesting site I pin it to the speed dial, which gets synced to mom's computer. She also knows

Rocking a Nexus S and mighty happy with it. :)

Tim,

Android doesn't come bundled with Chrome. Chrome is available only for Android 4.0 devices, it's still in beta, and it's available as any other app in the Play store. Expect Chrome to be the default browser in Jellybean.

Tapping on the clock widget takes me straight to all my crazy custom alarms, which is otherwise buried somewhere I can't bother to find.

Chrome is a Webkit-based browser, but it also uses its own V8 Javascript engine that won't be allowed in iOS. Dolphin is literally Safari on steroids - it takes Safari's Webkit and Nitro engines and puts its own features over them. Opera most certainly isn't going to abandon its in-house engines (Presto and Carakan)

Apple allows browsers that are based on its Safari engine. The iOS browsers are nothing more than different skins of Safari. You can't have Opera (Mobile, not Mini) or Chrome or Firefox in iOS.
