Authoritarianism covers all authority, not just state authority. Liberals correctly dismiss religious authority for their consistent moral failures. They are also the first and only group to consistently condemn premeditated war and the use of patriotism to those ends.

Authoritarianism isn't just state authority but any authority. Liberals elect liberals into office to ensure social tranquility for everyone, which is very anti-authoritarian.

The left is solidly anti-authoritarian. Which is a good thing since too much authoritarianism in society leads to dumb ideas like religion, patriotism, and fascism. The unholy trinity today's conservatives gleefully aspire towards.
